From zero knowledge to full throttle – Paul's training at EPROPLAST

Today we would like to introduce our apprentice Paul. He is training to become a warehouse logistics specialist and is currently in his second year of training. After completing ninth grade, he decided to start his apprenticeship—mainly because he wanted to start earning his own money early on, become independent, and at the same time automatically obtain his secondary school diploma.

Why this training?

“It was important to me that the training was enjoyable and the salary was right. I was also looking forward to driving a forklift truck—and it's really fun. The work is exactly as I imagined it would be.”

What does one do in warehouse logistics?

Paul is responsible for several areas:

  • Loading and unloading trucks
  • Packaging products
  • Keeping order in the warehouse
  • Create delivery notes
  • Adjust inventories on the PC
  • Check and document quantity of preforms or colors

Has the job changed you personally?

“Yes, definitely. I work in a much more structured way now and sort things more consciously. Order was important to me before, but through my work I see many things differently. You don't have to be super tidy, but you should like structures.”

A moment that impressed you?

“When I saw how many bottles we produce and for which brands, it was a wow moment. Our products can be found in grocery stores, drugstores, and even abroad. Here in the area, too, many stores stock our bottles.”

What do you particularly like about EPROPLAST?

“For example, my Germany ticket is paid for and I am provided with work clothes—they are even washed right here.”

How is your team?

“We work in a three-shift system and get along really well. There are hardly any arguments and we laugh a lot. My colleagues make everything much easier. I'm already looking forward to being able to work night shifts when I turn 18.”

Best moment so far?

“The two weeks of inventory during the Christmas season. Production comes to a standstill—it's quieter and makes a nice change. Sure, you work over the holidays, but in return I can take my vacation later, whenever suits me.”

What is the biggest challenge?

"After work, when you go into the crowded changing room, you can really smell the sweat. And the change from warm to cold when making deliveries in winter can be tough sometimes. But the work clothes are fine."

Would you choose EPROPLAST again?

“Yes, most of the time, definitely. There are stressful days, but the work is fun and it's a good job. After my training, I would like to continue here and get my master's certificate.”

Your favorite device?

“The most expensive blow molding machine with a 6-cavity blow mold—I would take that one and sell it.”

We make bottles.
