The global agreement against plastic waste has failed. This is a setback for international politics—but for us at EPROPLAST, it is no reason to wait and see. As a PET bottle manufacturer in Germany, we see it as our responsibility to make packaging more sustainable and offer our customers future-proof solutions.
PET as a sustainable packaging solution
PET packaging offers clear advantages over glass and polyolefins (HDPE/PP):
- Lightweight & break-resistant: Less weight means fewer transport emissions and greater safety.
- Recyclable: Clear PET bottles are excellent for recycling—a key principle of the Design for Recycling.
- Food certification: A major advantage of PET over polyolefins is that there are already established and approved recycling streams for rPET from beverage bottles.
- Almost identical properties to new products: rPET impresses with almost identical mechanical properties—only the color may vary.
- Resource-efficient: The use of recycled materials significantly reduces the consumption of primary raw materials.
This means that PET is not the problem, but part of the solution.
rPET bottles – circular economy in practice
At EPROPLAST, we offer all our bottles in rPET as well. This means that up to 100% of the material is recycled. We already recommend that our customers use at least 30% rPET—not just when legal requirements such as the PPWR come into effect.
Every bottle made from rPET saves CO₂ and ensures that existing raw materials remain in circulation. With our bottle finder, customers can quickly find the right standard solution, but they can also develop custom designs with us.
Future-proof with EPROPLAST
Whether hot-fill bottles, preform production, or customized designs—we combine functionality with sustainability. Our customers benefit from packaging that meets all regulatory requirements while offering the highest quality.
We are not waiting for political decisions. We are already taking action—and inviting our customers to join us in actively shaping the future of PET packaging in Germany.
